Surprise!

Who doesn't love a great surprise?  I know I do!  I was surprised today with an email that one of my posts is being featured at Free Quilt Patterns.  What a great surprise on this fine Thursday afternoon!

Soooo...I think it's only fitting that I surprise all of you with one more giveaway.  Remember that awesome roll of Shades strips by Riley Blake?  I think we need to try to give them away again.  After all, Marcia did chose the Good Life strips which leaves the shades strips here all alone {okay, you all know they aren't all alone}.

Spring Quilt Market ~ Celebrity Show Down

Before I show you all more market pictures I need to wish my momma a very happy birthday!  Today is her big day and she gets to spend it with me {and the rest of the family} in Texas.

I've shown you all pictures from Spring Quilt Market but I haven't shared all the pictures of mom and all the quilt celebrities!  It quickly became my mission to take her picture with all the quilt celebrities.  She wasn't so thrilled about it, but that made it even more fun for me.  {I'm a little ornery!}

Oh how I wish market didn't fly by so fast.  I can't believe it's over and it's time to get back to work.  However, I do have some exciting things in the works that I will be sharing over the next couple of weeks.  It's pretty amazing how things seem to work out sometimes.

Giveaway Day Blooper

Hello everyone!  I was just getting ready to announce the winner of our giveaway when I realized I made an error in the original post.  And not one person caught it...I guess you were all too excited about the fabric!  

I stated the giveaway would end Saturday May 25th {that's not even possible} but I meant Friday May 25th.  So, I think I will leave it open until tonight just to be fair.  I'll announce the winner tomorrow, Sunday May 27th.  I'm sorry for the mix-up.  Next time I'll do a better job looking at the calendar {face palm}.

This box was just delivered to my house this morning!  I love this Flea Market Fancy fabric.  I have lots of work to do tonight to get it listed in our online store.  I really want to cut into it and start sewing but I have so many projects started already...what's a girl to do???

I have to tell you all I am in love with the Art Gallery Solid fabrics.  I picked up two bundles at Quilt Market and I can't wait to use them.  

I've always been a fan of Moda Bella Solids but these solids just might change my mind.  They are so soft and have a wonderful sheen to them.  Pictures do not do them justice!

Spring Quilt Market Day 2

Day 2 of Spring Quilt is coming to a close.  And what a day!

I would love to share a little story with you all and I hope I can paint just the right picture of how it went down.  

It all started early this morning around 2:30 AM.  We were all snug in our beds sound asleep.  {I was probably dreaming about all the fabric I wanted to buy}  All of a sudden I woke up to the sound of a rattling noise.  I couldn't decide if I was dreaming or if someone was trying to get into our room.  Then I saw mom's head pop up and I knew I wasn't dreaming...someone was trying to get into our room.  

I jumped out of bed and started toward the door.  I could see light coming in from the hallway but I didn't see any feet outside our room.  Right at that moment I realized the noise was coming from inside our room.  Sheer panic came over me in an instant.  

Before I could even decide what I was going to do a shadow emerged from the bathroom.  I jumped and started moaning in fright.  At the same time the stranger started jumping up and down and squealing in fright.  Turns out, the stranger was Mary, our friend who came to market with us.  She had to use the restroom in the middle of the night.  The rattling noise was her making sure the bathroom door wasn't locked.

Our panic and distress instantly turned into out of control laughter.  I'm talking fall in the floor uncontrollable laughter.  All the while mom is still laying in bed watching the whole episode transpire.  She never moved a muscle.  When I laid back down mom said to me, "Just out of curiosity, what exactly were you going to do if someone had been trying to get into the room???"  Hmmm...that's a good question!  I guess I was going to kick some burglar butt!  

I tried to go back to sleep for about 15 minutes but every time I thought about our mutual ambush I started cracking up!  We have laughed about this all day long!  I sure wish we had a video of that because I'm quite certain we would win some money!


I have more pictures to share tomorrow...sleep tight everyone.  I sure hope I don't have to fend off "burglars" again tonight!      

Spring Quilt Market!

Spring Quilt Market is here!  Mary, mom and I arrived in Kansas City yesterday afternoon.  Well, I arrived in the afternoon and they arrived after a wrong turn and a little extra driving around.  

We went to our first ever sample spree last night.  What is sample spree, you ask?  It's a mob of fabric loving quilters sprinting around the convention center trying to get their hands on the latest and greatest fabrics, patterns & notions!  Good thing I wore my tennis shoes!

    

Did we get anything good, you ask?  Why yes we did!  Lots of Riley Blake pre-cuts, some Art Gallery pre-cuts, some Blend Fabrics pre-cuts, some patterns, and some Benartex pre-cuts...

This is a close up of one of the Blend Fabric bundles. 

The above bundle is called Vintage Summer designed by Little Yellow Bicycle.  I fell in love with this collection even though it's not something I would normally be drawn to.  I just love it!  Blend Fabrics is a licensing division of Anna Griffin.  I just recently found this company and I am loving it!

Well, I think that's it for tonight.  We are exhausted and it's bed time.  We'll be up early to do it all again tomorrow.  We plan on hitting up Timeless Treasures, Clothworks, Anthology, Alexander Henry and more!

Circles ~ They're Not so Scary

Now, we must send out a huge thank you to everyone who participated.  I cannot believe the overwhelming response we had.  We surpassed our goal of 300 followers by a huge amount!  Mom and I are so thankful to all of you, our followers and friends!  

So many of you loved my circles!  I'm so thrilled you loved them.  There were lots of questions as to how I did them.  The short answer is, raw edge appliqué using Steam a Seam.  I will have a tutorial ready before long.  I plan on showing you all exactly how I did it.  

I hope everyone has a great week!  I know I will.  Mom and I are meeting in Kansas City for Spring Quilt Market!  I cannot wait.  So, if you don't see us around here everyday you know why.  We will be walking miles and miles among all the quilty goodness!  I'll post pictures at night if I'm not dead on my feet.

May 4th Stash Bee Block

It's only the 4th of May and I'm finished with my May stash bee block!  Our assignment this month was to make a wonky star block.  I was so relieved that it was something besides appliqué.  

I like how this one turned out.  I did have to rip out about 3 or 4 seams.  I sewed a couple pieces on upside down and had one star point off.  I'm pretty sure sewing while under the influence of cold medicine is not a good plan.  I probably should have waited to make the block but thankfully, it turned out pretty good.  

Now I'm thinking it might be kind of fun to make a wonky star quilt.  Like I need to make any more tops before I quilt all the tops that are waiting patiently.

I also got a bundle of goodies in the mail yesterday.  Awhile back I won a Fat Quarter Shop gift certificate and here's what I picked out...

   
I got myself some Art Gallery fabrics.  Who knows what I'll do with them but they're soooo pretty!
